Our supporting entity
The “Santa Lucia Protector Society of the Blind”, a non-profit organization, was founded in 1924 in order to welcome, educate and train blind people who, at that time, did not have any type of social support.

The Network of Friends
This is a group, created in the year 2002, of both people and companies that give a monthly economic donation that allows a permanent improvement of the educational work that is provided in the institution and also allows its permanence in time.

Mission
Our mission as an educational establishment is to “Educate, rehabilitate and provide work training for people who are blind or visually impaired in order to reach a level of development that is both integral and harmonic.
This development emphasizes the formation of habits, values and the achievement of effective and functional knowledge which allows progressive autonomy at a personal level, educational level, social level and work level through the achievement of social and work abilities that are basic for an active participation as a citizen of society.”

Official Recognition
We have recognition from the Ministry of Education since June 30 th 1947 through Resolution Number 5629 and currently work with the complete school day system and are, also, a boarding school.

The Educational Services we offer:
1.- Elementary Education Area
Includes:
- Early intervention (0 months to three year olds)
- Pre-school and Kindergarten (3 year olds to 6 year olds)
- Elementary School (7 year olds to 14 year olds)
2.- Social and Educational Integration Area
Provides support for the students who are blind or visually impaired who study in regular schools (inclusive campus). It involves assistance for teachers, school material adaptation, transcripts, etc. This area supports students in:
- Preschool and Kindergarten
- Elementary School
- High School
3.- Rehabilitation, Work Training and Work Insertion Area
- Functional Rehabilitation
- Psychological and Social Rehabilitation
- Professional Rehabilitation
We are in permanent contact with many organisms that train and insert people who are blind or visually impaired in various jobs.

Workshops programmed for the year 2004
In order to strengthen the integral development of our students, we have programmed many workshops that are oriented to aspects such as personal growth, physical training, musical education and recreation into our curriculum.

Our institution, as its mission states, has its doors permanently open to the community and to every blind or visually impaired person that needs guidance, orientation or support in order to overcome his or her difficulties.
